I know its directed towards Hermann, but I wouldn't...it would have done very little to stop the massacre, it would just create a person on the list that would have to be taken out first...also who knows what type of weapons training the principle had, even though we would both agree she was extremely brave, without the proper training, she could have ended up shooting and missing, and just injuring another child......armed guards will not help the situation...

That's not a brave answer,it's freaking stupid! The principal tried to attack without any armaments!Would at least have been a distraction and maybe ended the shooting spree before 20 children and 6 adults were killed! As it is the principal was just 1 of the victims!

You're post is rather irrational.

You would leave those defenseless children to their fate over something that **might** happen.

Armed guards are the most rational solution. Just because you say armed guards will not help the situation does not make it so. I noticed you offered no reasonable explanation for this statement either.

Do you realize that the shooter committed suicide when the Armed Police arrived? Most of these shooters are afraid of confrontation, so they attack in Gun Free Zones! Look at San Antonio where the shooter was taken out by an off duty officer with only 2 being injured! Had someone been able to respond, there is a much better chance that there would have been less death! At least they would have had a chance! Not 100% maybe...but a chance! Wake UP!!!!

That's a brave answer indy, but really flawed logically. Would have done very little, How do you know? You also ASSUME the killer would have known which people were armed. The principal in my hypothetical scenario would have had the training needed to safely handle a firearm. Yes, she COULD have missed....with no gun, she was a sacrificial lamb! Better that those children were slaughtered then that they had any hope at all?

The National Rifle Association has seen a 100,000 jump in members since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in early December, pushing the total number of members from 4.1 million to 4.2 million. More from POLITICO:

“Our goal is to get to 5 million before this debate is over,” the NRA told POLITICO’s Mike Allen.

“We are willing to talk to policymakers about any reasonable proposals and plans,” an NRA official said in the Playbook report, regarding the upcoming meeting with Biden. “However, the NRA is hearing not just from Beltway elites and...
