If you agree, then you have to know there is no way to win this unless we start playing by Obama's rules.....first step push all mental illness to be covered by the ACA, he will never be able to say no...while its being modified push in a few things that can at least benefit people (tort, open up state lines).....Put Obama on the defense, he will have to shift to the ACA and the gun control issues will be dropped.....it would be a huge win for conservatives.....

Buck, about using O-care to our advantage....

the law includes provisions for medical homes. This is basically home health care, but it includes an emphasis on group homes because they intend to do away with nursing homes.

Anyway, it may provide options in providing access to safe havens for those with mental illness. And it may be something that could be utilized at a state level to address practical measures associating mental illness with gun ownership.

I am not sure whats in it as far as mental health.......the GOP should just say the ACA should cover anyone 100% for any mental health issues, no questions asked....I am not sure if that is already in there, but if it is, then we can find a way to pump it up anymore....the whole point is not to actually use the ACA, its to shift the debate away from guns, and to mental health....maybe we can have some type of awareness campaign....doesn't matter as long as we are not talking about guns.....

See my post below to Robin. The ACLU has seen to it that we can't give mentally ill people the care they need and deserve.

There are already massive provisions for mental illness covered in O-care, indy.

What more are you wanting?

California Senator Dianne Feinstein is expected to introduce new gun control legislation today in an effort to reinstate the "assault" weapons ban of the Clinton era, but Feinstein's legislation goes far beyond simply banning scary look guns. The bill being introduced today covers a wide range of handsguns, rifles, and shotguns. Firearms lawfully purchased and  included in the legislation as "banned" must be registered.

Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:

120 specifically-named firearms;

-Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine...
