Respectfully, here are a few simple truths that everyone needs to accept. Governments (Federal, State, Local) only exist to grow ever larger and exert greater control and power over the population. Government doesn't care about your stupid, little problems except to find new ways to seize more control and power over your life. Never, never, never vote for an incumbent running for re-election. The longer they are in office the more corrupt they become. If you think your elected officials care about your opinion write a polite, clear letter to your congressman or senators stating your concerns or questions on a single current issue (focus on ONE topic and be specific). Continued.

IF you get a reply it will be "cut and paste" boilerplate written by a staffer and it WILL NOT address your concern or question, but it will thank you for writing to the congressman. Then you will be in the congressman's database and you will get all kinds of solicitations for campaign contributions.

Here is another fun exercise: call your congressman or senator and ask when they will be holding their next "townhall meeting" because you really want to attend and ask some questions. Their answer will be "we are still planning the congressman's future meetings and we'll get back to you." The truth is your elected representatives really don't want to be bothered by the people they represent. Pretty simple, yes?

Yes.

I have written to my Senators and Congressmen and I did get the "boilerplate" answer. Actually, I even wrote to Obama himself (in reply to a campaign message that he sent to me) with the same results. "THEY" don't listen to us.

I have gotten a few personal replies. It has been a while ...
Members-of-Congress do note your opinion, in a statistical sense. A cynical view would be that MoCs use those statistics to shape the lies they tell the media.

Arguably you would have more success, to use a union term, Organizing, and taking your cause first to the media and other people, then to your MoC.

Hooray! The economy is adding jobs (supposedly). However, few look at the quality of the jobs, and whether or not they are part-time.

Jed Graham has a nice post on Investor's Business Daily that describes what I have been saying for months: Obamacare has accelerated the trend towards part-time jobs. There are more jobs, but fewer hours in them.
