The last Republican mayor of Detroit was Louis Miriani who left office in January 1962. Detroit has had Democrat "leadership" for the past 50 years. That's half a century for you folks living in Newark, NJ. Maybe...the citizens of Detroit could get Kwame Kilpatrick to be mayor again. Oh, wait, I think he is still in prison. In 2005, TIME magazine named Kilpatrick as one of the worst mayors in America. Yeah, let's get Kwame to be mayor again. Way to go Detroit. You'll get the government you deserve.

The hollowing out of Detroit is nearly complete. All that's left is a bankrupt shell of a city with no services and scattered citizens that do not pay taxes.
