It's strikes me rather odd, all the comments expressing surprise, even shock at the "pure-D" fact our gooberment is after all, a representative democracy. YES! we have a gooberment, "OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE." Who we elect is indeed who we've HIRED, to represent us. They indeed work for us. Tragically, there is a saying which I'll paraphrase w/o attribution, (Don't Know) Every free people elect (hire) the form of government and governance they deserve.

The grotesque spectacle of the State of the Union address, with its lengthy receiving line of adoring sycophants, demonstrates why the President is operating under the delusion that he is more than just our President.
