I stayed with Allstate for years because my cousin was an agent and advised me through several accidents that were not my fault. (2 rear enders). Since then I have been hit twice and had to threaten insurance companies with suing their insured directly to get even reasonable compensation. They will offer you below bluebook every time and nickle and dime everything else. They will NOT compensate a dollar more than they can get away with. Your only defense is to educate yourself on what they legally have to pay you and purchase a bit more coverage than you think you will need. I’m looking at buying term life insurance. Currently, I’m in medical school doing my last year of residency and making $35,000 a year. Should I base the amount of insurance coverage on what I’m making now or what I’ll make when I’ve finished medical school?
