BMI is a tool. It is not definitive. But keep in mind that the heart still has to support the extra mass. For insurance purposes, credits are usually allowed for weight distribution. E.g. Chest to waist ratio. That can show muscular development vs. abdominal flab. The risk assessment is based on statistical data. Of course, many other factors will be considered.

Having spent most of my career in life insurance underwriting, I can attest to the insurance industry's constant effort to assess risk as fairly and accurately as possible. Risk appraisal is not about fault, but statistical outcomes. Not charging homosexuals a higher rate is clearly a political concession and, ironically, began with the appearance of HIV. When the HIV antibody test came out, California prohibited insurance companies from using it to screen applicants. The gay lobby was that strong and vociferous.

It isn't about fault or the ability to make positive changes. It is about risk. There are people born with congenital heart defects. It's not their fault, but life insurance companies still take risk into account. The same goes for numerous other conditions. Mortality of homosexuals has many factors. There is often a very promiscuous life style, drug use, STDs, etc. But life insurance companies go by statistical data and try to isolate as many factors as possible to make as fair a risk appraisal as they can. Results demonstrate that the approach works.

Comparing the assassination of an unpopular duke by an 18 yo member of a small extremist group bears no resemblance to 9/11. It was idiotic for Austria (and I am Austrian by birth) to declare war on Serbia over that, especially knowing all the treaty alliances that fell like dominoes with the declaration of war. The impetus for the war lies at eh feet of Austria, but then, Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany, an arrogant fool, defied numerous overtures from England to forestall the war. The difference is between the rule of men (monarchs, dictators, etc) and the rule of law; a Constitution.

There can be no peace until Muslims abandon their desire for the destruction of Israel.

Exactly right. In the early 70's, I had occasion to be in group discussion in which David Kennedy, who had been Secretary of the Treasury was, at the time, an Ambassador at Large, participated. He related that he had just come back from Egypt and a meeting with Nasser. He told how they had gone out and were overlooking the Sinai when Nasser commented "if you want to understand the Arab-Israeli conflict, read the book of Joshua." But I agree with you, it goes back farther than that.
If they don't think it can happen here, let them ponder how it happened in a Germany that was known for its education, culture, with great music; a land of philosophers. The ideas of Hitler were born in the great universities with philosophers like Kant and Hegel. The teaching that the State is everything sprang from Hegel and filtered down to the masses. By the time Hitler came along, it was widely accepted (and still is today) that the people are owned by the State. Isn't that the direction we are headed here and now? Jewish suicidal positions have baffled me for years. This country has afforded them more freedom and independence than they had kn own in over 2000 years. It has been the principles of freedom that formed the foundation of this country that created the best way for all people to live free and prosper. If they think that they can let go of the tiger's tail at some point, they will be torn apart. I implore them to open their eyes before it is too late.
Considering that every Democrat in DC was complicit with Obama's "lie of the year," why would any sane person vote for any Democrat ever again until they change their stripes?
