As a former SNAP recipient I would like to ask you all this. Why have none of you mentioned the increase in cost of living, increase in cost of education, increase in numbers of homes with single parents, increase in numbers of jobs lost due to factory closures, teacher layoffs and such. What about the increase in the cost of healthcare? Factor that in with a poverty level that hasn't changed in years, wages that have not risen to meet the cost of living, food and energy. Those are things that affect everyone's ability to buy necessities

Have you heard the rumor that the number of food stamp recipients has increased during President Obama’s term from 28.2 million to 46.6 million? Have you heard that in only three years, the annual cost of the program, which was already astronomical at $35 billion, has soared to $76 billion? It certainly has been the talk of the town (if not the campaign), but does anyone really know how we got to this state of affairs? That is what I set out to discover.

Even the most basic details about the program seem surreal. Why in the world is this...
