This is pushing PC to its extreme stupidity. I don't accept it even in normal conditions as a totally moronic device. It is meant to block discussion of things that are human (but uncomfortable to some who are oversensitive or really, or seemingly, addressed by the subject). The objects of discussion aren't eliminated by it, just thinking about it is discouraged. Me, I'll call a spade a spade, and may the splinters fall where they may.

The first line of attack in political battles is language. Getting people to phrase things your way is the first step to getting them to think your way.

In the foggy mess of the debate over women in combat, you will see media references to a “ban” being “lifted.”

Bans are bad. Lifting bans is good. Therein lies the bias strangling this issue in the dominant media culture.
