why does one have to be "libertarian" to see the evil unconstitutional unlawfulness of government involving itself in union membership? That's as self-evident as the wrongness of "public schools". How long does it take you to figure out that if a judge can consider himself justified in telling a child, "You shall not pray", that the presence of the judge is the problem?

Because liberal and conservatives have their own sacred cows in the government-intervention game.

Only the libertarians have figured out that you cannot justify implementing your personal favorite government interventions - you know, the ones that every civilized, thinking person agrees are good - because doing so eliminates your justification to object to your enemy's personal favorite government interventions - you know, the ones that every civilized, thinking person agrees are good.

Creating groups of artificial winners and losers is the life blood of politicians and bureaucrats. Keeping government small minimizes those opportunities.
