if you want to stay poor, then no, no party should be interested in your input. You make the same mistake everybody else does, believing the lie: "... Instead, Republicans must convince the electorate that they are just as concerned about the plight of the poor and downtrodden as Progressives,..." the socialists who call themselves "progressive" are not "concerned" about the "plight" of anybody but their own elections. THERE IS NOBODY WHO CARES ABOUT YOUR PLIGHT more than you do, and that is as it should be. YOU NEED THE FREEDOM TO CORRECT YOUR SITUATION. Nobody else can or should do it for you (if you are incapacitated then your family, friends and church are there for the purpose). Charity can not be done by government.

get your kids out of public 'education' now! This is the second most evil scheme going in this country. Where else could a judge consider himself to have the authority to tell a child, "here you shall not pray". Where else could the statists have the gall to indoctrinate your kids in communism and islam, while perverting their own country's history and meaning. What a disaster for liberty this horrible scheme has been for America.

Please note the key to beginning to slow and stop and reverse the failure of America. If we do not restore the one functional and motivated force against runaway federal government, there can be no hope. Restore the states as entities by restoring their representation. Repeal the 17th Amendment. It won't fix anything, but it makes it possible to start fixing things. Think about it. This is the key.

if you'd like to see this happen, and any of the other things that could start turning around the awful decline of this once-great former republic, then first you must repeal the 17th Amendment, restoring the only functioning check on runaway federal government.
SO BURN THEM ALL! right? azhole.
look around you. The government is trying it's best to make sure nobody can fight back.

I'm afraid the tipping point has been surpassed, and there is no longer a will to correct it. I'm watching for one sign to tell me I'm wrong. If the 17th Amendment is repealed, then I will believe there is a possibility that America is not on the expressway to serfdom. Without that, nothing else is going to work.
here's another bit of inspiration if you like Coolidge: google "Not yours to give" for a cool story about Congressman Davy Crockett. Some say it's fiction, but I don't care, the moral of the story is fine either way.

there was one force capable of, and motivated to, oppose runaway federal government, and it was disabled in the same year the Federal Reserve was created. When states lost their representation, the ceased to exist as a real force. If you want to get them off the sidelines and back in the fight against Washington, and put the teeth back in the 10th Amendment, then you must repeal the 17th.

you don't have to be a genius to understand that when membership is compulsory, you are not a "union". This has not been a Constitutional Republic since membership was militarily enforced. This has not been a Republic since states ceased to be a factor in the federal government. Their representation was stolen in 1913. There is no 10th Amendment as long as there is a 17th Amendment. The one force capable and motivated to oppose runaway federal government was eradicated.
