If you will stop taxing me for sending your brat to school I'll do what I wish even better.

srkeegam-Do you just deliverately miss the point? I DO send my kid to private school just because of all the federal government intrusion. The feds do not belong in the schools. These are local schools and should be run locally. The federal government can't do as good a job and they don't have any business in them.

My brats eat what they are given without complaint or they go hungry. It's called discipline.

Nully, you have to get a job before you can pay taxes. That might be hard for you to do.

When the govt pays for something, you no longer have govt control. You can't take a govt. handout and then dictate the terms of that handout.

The only point it has is the one on its head.

The states can turn down federal funding if they want. There is no law that says the states have to take the funding, so if you have a problem with federal funding of your local schools, write your congressman and tell him you would prefer to pay higher local taxes so your school can have more local control.

Be prepared to see your property, state and sales taxes skyrocket to cover the $10,615 annual cost to educate each child in the public school system.

No it isn't AliveinHim. This is where myopia sets in. Unless you pay $10,615 per kid in taxes that solely go to schools, you are NOT paying for your child's education because that is how much it costs to educate the average kid in a public school.

So therefore, you are receiving a massive "government handout" each year to have your kids educated for free for 13 years.

So if you aren't interested in being a freeloader, I suggest you put your kids in private school and actually pay your way, and quit asking for government handouts.

I educated my kids in a private school for far less than that. They were AHEAD of their peers academically when they got to public high school-which, I might add-was and is ALSO PAID FOR by ME via property taxes.

And yes, the money the Government at any level gets comes from ME and the 30% Federal income taxes I pay. The Government doesn't have its own stash, and anyone who takes my money SHOULD be accountable for how it's spent, don't you agree?

I DID put my kids in private school. And at far less than 50% less of that proscribed "cost". And they received a FAR better education. There's something fearfully wrong with our whole shooting match public school system. I really wish they would throw the whole thing down a black hole and begin again. It is absolutely ridiculous the taxpayer money thrown at the education department in this country and our scores go lower and lower, our kids are more poorly educated than ever before, falling behind many other countries. We are being dumbed down generation by generation by our own government and worse, at OUR COST!
