What do you mean by "adopting our values"? Do you mean that extended families do not live together under one roof? Because here in the US, we tend to live one-nuclear-family-per-household. Many other cultures find that strange. Do you mean ditching your religion for another? Because Americans tend to "shop around" for the denomination or church which suits their social and political beliefs, which many other people of faith find strange.
