There’s only a couple million violent criminals and lunatics – so how much carnage can they really cause anyway? And if we can help them feel confident that no one will ever be able make them feel threatened or intimidated, then maybe they wouldn’t feel so compelled to acquire machine-guns from renegade ATF-agents, or steal so many guns from other places. Or at least they might consider extending the courtesy of leaving their unlawfully acquired guns at their hide-outs – instead of carrying them on every single violent endeavor. We just need to stop antagonizing them, and maybe they won’t be so mean.

Difficulty in getting change in our country is an ongoing source of frustration. Particularly when we have huge problems facing us as we do today.

But the founders knew what they were doing setting up the checks and balances of our constitutional republic. The delicate arrangement we call freedom should never submit with ease to a charismatic demagogue or to an emotion filled crisis.

The current push for gun control is case and point. It is at a time like this that we should be grateful that changing our laws is hard to do.
