You're right, it's a silly idea. Do let us handicap our best and brightest and keep them in school-prison right up to the age of eighteen, at which time we hand them their little page of parchment and they emerge knowing not one scrap more than the kids they were forced to teach. That's good for the dullards, of course, but our geniuses--our future doctors, scientists, philosophers, composers, writers, and artists--have been held back. You obviously have never given a moment's thought to how damaging it is to bore a kid to death for twelve years.

Elsewhere Dr Sowell has well documented that blacks who immigrate from locations outside the U.S. have no problem achieving as high educational, social, and economic goals as any other immigrant group. This must put an end to any assumption that blacks are in any way inferior to any other racial strain. It's the pervasive indoctrination that hobbles them.

You're kidding yourself. If, say, Reagan had been a lover of that same movie, you'd have tarred him from one end of the country to the other.

The decline didn't start in the Sixties; it started with Progressive Education in the Twenties along with Rousseau's "child-centered education". You think that education went downhill abruptly in the Sixties because children of the Sixties were so much dumber than those of the Fifties but the difference was only one step out of a whole staircase that had a dozen steps before it.

That didn't start in the Sixties; it started in the Twenties when Rousseau and the "child-centered education" were forced upon the schools in the name of "Progressivism". In fact Progressivism is older than that but it hadn't yet been implemented to a great extent in the schools.. You think that education went downhill abruptly in the Sixties because children of the Sixties were so much dumber than those of the Fifties but the difference was only one step out of a whole staircase that had a dozen steps before it.

Usually it is called "proven" science. Evidently our teachers no longer have any idea what a "proof" is.

Obviously you have never stopped to ponder how her statement could possibly be true; instead you dismissed it out of hand. So sad how much you miss this way.
