You can get a partial answer from the left. They'll be happy to tell you how the "one percent" are keeping a bunch more money (as if that were a crime) while lower income people are seeing little, if any, change in their income. They simply ignore the fact that the vast majority of lower income earners actually have a negative income tax "burden" (i.e. they actually make money due to tax credits).

This is Obama's core message. In one way or another, he says it all the time. It's his kicker on the stump. You cannot watch an interview with the president or one of his subalterns without hearing it.
