I agree more facts and supporting evidence could and should have been presented, but the fact that colleges spend anything on "diversity" is ridiculous. College is about learning, not diversity. While there are lots and lots of claims that students learn more as part of a diverse student body and taught by a diverse faculty, less supporting evidence is presented for that claim than is presented in this column. College should be about the best and brightest faculty educating the best and brightest students, regardless of race, religion, or gender.

How many times have you heard Barack Obama talk about "investing" in education? Quite a few, if you've been listening to the president at all.

In fact, Americans have been investing more and more in education over the years, led by presidents Democratic and Republican. But it's become glaringly clear that we're getting pretty lousy return on these investments.
