I got to be a "beneficiary" of the budget cuts. After ten years of an outstanding career and three deployments, the military decided I was no longer needed. I was busy deploying and didn't finish my master's degree. Therefore, no promotion for me. I got out last September and I'm still looking for a job in my career field (intelligence). A while back the Military One Source website included blogs, one ostensibly by the First Lady. I checked it several times. There was never even one posting on it. It's no longer on the site. The Obamas are hoping for support from vets? Fugettaboutit.
What kind of suburbs have you been living in? Do they have sky high rates of alcoholism, drug abuse, and unemployment? Are the people there heating their homes with their stoves? The Pine Ridge reservation is the poorest in the country. Acknowledging social ills isn't "patronizing." What do you mean by "honor?" Reading Black Elk Speaks, giving money to AIM, watching Dances With Wolves, and sitting in a sweat lodge? We don't "honor" people by token displays of cultural appreciation or giving them government handouts. We honor people by treating with the dignity they are entitled to because of their humanity, not their skin color.

I worked document and media exploitation in Iraq and there wasn't a Jihadist hard drive or memorty stick that wasn't full of porno.
If a liberal had written this, would you be so snippy and critical or would you praise their insight? As one who lives in Hawaii, I can assure you there are just as many rich and famous liberals who sit in their cushy seats safely above the fray as well.
Husker2: Agreed. I grew up in Nebraska and no administrator or teacher in the Papillion school district would ever make a student remove an American flag. Of course it's a big military area, but I'm pretty sure this would never happen in the rest of the state either. My parents actually stayed in Nebraska because of the schools.

I don't understand the why liberals go out of their way to apologize for Islamofacism when Islamic societies have no love for gays, respect for women, open debate, or freedom of religion. If they lived in a society with Shari'a law, they'd be imprisoned or executed by exercising the freedoms and "rights" they hold most dear.

Respect for women varies by country. I've been deployed to the Middle East twice. I'm with the advisor mission in Iraq and my experience in Iraq has been better than the UAE, I think mainly because Western military women are such a curiosity. Most of my experiences have been good, but a friend of mine had to quit advising one general because he kept pursing her romantically and another general has hinted...
I wasn't attempting to be snotty. I never asked you to "bow and scrape". Your Majesty? Good thing you're eager to rise above the snottiness and not be dragged down into the muck with me. Thank you for proving my final point.

OR is right. I think we're all in agreement that the downfall of ACORN is a great thing. And yes, I did see the exclusion of ACORN from the 2010 census and it's outstanding news.

CherDash, Did you even look at my previous post? Obviously not, because you'll see that I acknowledged exactly that in my lasts two posts. It sounds like you had such a burning desire to answer a prior posting that you didn't bother to scroll through the rest of the thread to find out more.
Carolyn, Not falling in lockstep with the official party line on one issue doesn't make me naive or a secret liberal. I wasn't "tripping all over myself" to try and sound "oh so thoughtful and reasonable". That was simply my personal opinion. The fact that someone tries to interject a different opinion into a debate doesn't make them a secret liberal mole. It does make you paranoid though. Hearing other opinions regardless of how stupid...
In all my earliest comments, I acknowledged that ACORN is a heinous, corrupt organization. I would love to see them go down in flames as much as anybody. My bottom line was that it would have been even better to have even more footage of this activity rather than just one video. ACORN can easily throw these two morons under the bus and say that it was an isolated incident--unless there's more proof that conspiring to commit human trafficking is an institutional problem.

Although, now the office in DC has delivered that "more proof". If the filmmakers can get even more than that, then I'll be cheering as loud as everyone else on this thread when ACORN implodes. There will be way to cover that up.

It's about 108 here...
