Congressman, just what do you find illegal ? What part of NO in NO Trespassing do you not understand ? How many people crossing the border can you have and still call it secured ? We are not talking about giving a house to a burglar just because he broke in. Or giving a car to a person just because he hijacked it. Believe it or not, that is illegal. Illegal means breaking the law. Lawmakers should know why they write laws on everything. You can have a group of eight, or pick any number, why do you think we want their project, whatever it is, screwed up ? Republicans are here making all sorts of suggestions and Democrats are listening to you to see what is right.
To hear Sen. Charles Schumer tell it, lawmakers crafting an immigration reform bill will focus on two big tasks. "First, defining metrics that demonstrate that the border is secure," the New York Democrat explained at a Jan. 31 news conference. "Second, defining exactly what the path to citizenship looks like and how it proceeds."

For Schumer and some Senate colleagues, that is the short version of immigration reform: first, border security, and second, a path to citizenship.
