Thomas Sowell, you did a great job about this subject and again in my opinion, the ones who have posted here have expressed themselves mostly in a mature fasion and concerned. On the other hand if the president was to come on here, the value of this thread would be degraded, just like his so called sympathty for the lost and the loved ones was, when he spoke/acted. The speech writer, except for the plug for gun control, did a good job but the heart you can't fake. There should be a notice printed on our president: Caution: believing what this man says can be dangerous to your health.

The key fallacy of so-called gun control laws is that such laws do not in fact control guns. They simply disarm law-abiding citizens, while people bent on violence find firearms readily available.

If gun control zealots had any respect for facts, they would have discovered this long ago, because there have been too many factual studies over the years to leave any serious doubt about gun control laws being not merely futile but counterproductive.
