Which party lost Congress in '06? Which party ran up huge deficits in the early '00's? Under ostensibly "conservative" leadership? Which party sought to replace Liberal Big Government with Conservative Big Government? I'm not sure what your brand of conservatism is, but support for limited government, individual rights, and personal responsibility (as opposed to to government, be it D or R, dictating those) does not seem to be it. Is Brown perfect? Of course not. But like Ronald Reagan (and unlike you) I'll focus someone who is with me on 80% of the issues- and can actually get elected- rather than that 20% where we may differ.

Scott Brown supports what- many- voters see as reasonable restrictions re. abortion (no partial-birth, strong parental notification) but is not the rabid, uncompromising pro-lifer that, like it or not, loses as many voters as it gains. Similar, same-sex marriage; Brown opposed my state's impostion of SSM, as most voters do. however, he did and does support civil union-type legislation for gays which, again, polls show many voters are not opposed to.
