Let's try not to get carried away here. This does not help our cause when we get overly conspiratorial like this. This ad is not really political. It is the Red Cross using the POTUS for fund raising in the face of a disaster. I'm as sensitive to media bias as anybody, but this looks like an overreaction to me. I see nothing wrong with it.

RINO. Go rejoin the Beltway crowd. This ad just ensured non-politics focused people will give less, since this President has written off the notoriously generous blue collar workers, who are aware of his contempt. A friend of his is an enemy of theirs.

We're not getting "conspiratorial." We're simply noting the obvious fact that such ads are normally done by ex-presidents with both sides represented, NOT JUST THE CURRENT PRESIDENT WITHOUT HIS CHALLENGER.

If that's too deep for you to comprehend, Hornit, then by all means, tell us we're being "conspiratorial."

No, not too deep for me to comprehend. I understand it's not common, but it's also not a political ad by Red Cross. As I say above, I have no doubt Obama's motivations for doing it were political though. Maybe you can comprehend that, maybe not. I can only say than when I see this kind of reactionary stuff on these blogs, I'm reminded of what Greg Gutfeld. said. I became a conservative after being around liberals. I became a libertarian after being around conservatives.

Bah. There are any number of eminent Americans who could convincingly make such an appeal who are not trying to win an election 4 days from now. I remember Bill Clinton and the first Bush getting together and doing something like that a few years ago (after 9/11?)

I think that was after Katrina. I know there are other people they could have used, but still, there is nothing overtly political about this ad. I do not doubt that Obama did it for political reasons. In fact, I'm sure he did.

On Friday night, swing-voters across the nation saw a one-minute advertisement paid for by the Red Cross featuring President Barack Obama.

The ad comes on the weekend before the election, and while the Red Cross does unquestionable good for millions of Americans, the choice to run this ad comes noticeably close to a campaign endorsement for President Obama.

Here’s the transcript from the ad:

When a natural disaster strikes, it can leave tens of thousands of families in need of help, and it can also bring out the best in the American people....
