I realize that conservatives, with their characteristic inflexibility, have difficulty in understanding that intelligent non-conservatives continue to evolve intellectually, during and after college. Thus it's rather ridiculous to posit that IF the President was a big nuclear freeze supporter that he thinks of either Russia or nuclear arms in exactly the same way he did in the early 1980s.

"intelligent non-conservatives" Oops! I just caught an Oxymoron Typo!

By contrast, observe all the TH posters whose intellectual development and outlook on the world apparently froze well before the 1980s. They post stuff that suggests the U.S. communist party -- a low-membership historical relic -- is a dire threat, and that the U.S. is still locked in some kind of global struggle with pesky commies. That kind of inability to respond to changing circumstances makes it hard to see that in the wake of the Cold War, we entered a hyper-capitalist phase, with major corporations exercising outsized influence on government and the lives of citizens.

China and Russia lost what Marxist purity they had; but they still have nuclear, biological, chemical, and cyber weapons targeted on us, so they're a great deal more than pesky. The commies in Pyongyang and their friends in Iran and Pakistan could start WW3, so they're not exactly pesky, either. The commies in Havana and Caracas are causing multiple problems. And the commies in Washington are, as they always were, more numeous and more committed than in Moscow or Beijing. Talk about being behind the times. Sacco and Vanzetti are dead. Alger Hiss was a traitor. Read a book now and then.

Hooters..let's make a deal. You send me your address after you have given away ALL your weapons which might dissuade me from breaking down your door and ventilating your hide. Then...I will show up when you LEAST expect it...heavily armed and giving NO quarter as I make my demands. Will you have enough time for your 'evolved' principles regarding your own deterrence capacity to be suddenly brought back into play....knowing that I am coming with deadly force and intent?

Are you REALLY that stupid and naive? Or are you just a loyal, sycophantic kool-aid drinker who repeats what he has heard, with barely a real-world conviction you can call your own?

Haha, then we're still ahead of the leftards who are frozen in 1935 worshipping at the altar of Saint Franklin and HIS socialist mismanagement. Ya know, at least Wilson fought WW1 to "Make the world safe for democracy." Saint Franklin fought WW2 to make the world safe for Stalin.

PS-- Saint Franklin is also the one who incarcerated US citizens in concentration camps because of their skin color.

President Obama’s senior thesis at Columbia University has been embargoed. It is said to be an endorsement of the Nuclear Freeze Movement that was so much the cause célèbre of the left here and throughout Western Europe in the Reagan years. We may have to wait for his presidential library to open to find out.

And we may have to wait until then, too, to learn whether young Barack Obama attended the massive, one million plus Nuclear Freeze rally in Central Park in June, 1982. It’s hard to imagine that the young...
