Sticking to the actual issue is of most importance. Can the US Government force a person to violate their religious beliefs? Apparently it can, according to the HHS Mandate guidelines. However, the 1st Amendment of the US Constitution states the following: (Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;....) This amendment clearly states that the free exercise of religion is protected by the US Government. If I as a Roman Catholic want to exercise my religion by following the teaching of my Church, then I have every right to avoid contraception and sterilizations. If my Church teaches something that conflicts with secular society that is another issue altogether.
