In response to:

Why This Ex-Libertarian is Voting Mitt Romney

Thank you, Wayne Allyn Root, for your insight, honesty, and courage. For those who think voting for Romney is voting for the lesser of two evils, I ask you to compare the degree of those evils. Another four years of Obama's radical socialism, anti-Americanism, racism, and utter incompetency will destroy forever the country and the freedoms we love and cherish -- and a split in the conservative vote will throw the election to Obama. Think about it, folks, and think hard! What kind of country do you want your children and grandchildren to inherit?

In 1979, i was afraid of Ronald Reagan- he was an ex democrat, and governor of the biggest liberal state in the country. And the press hated him, just like Romney. But, I bit my lip, went to the booth, and voted AGAINST Jimmy Carter. I continued to be pleasantly surprised by Ronnie for the next 8 years.

Clearly you missed the budgets back then...

Not when the alternatives were Jimmy carter and Dukakis. Recall that Dukakis was supposed to beat Reagan by 12% the day before the election.

Like I said, clearly you missed the budgets back then.

GOP apologists see ONLY what they want to see. everything else didn't really happen.

Apparently you forgot to look at who was standing behind the 'curtain' during his term. The neo-cons convinced Reagan of a direction that has crippled our country. Deregulation led to the S&L debacle with sever R's going to prison for fraud and embezzlement among other charges (many on Wall St and several of Congress should be in prison now). The debt tripled and a 'false' economy was created; the wealthy started on the path of mega-wealth and the middle class's income flat-lined. The rhetoric of Newt and others muddied the waters and the Dems contribution and connections with Wall St helped to create the bubble that burst. Plenty of blame to go around but the bottom line is that Wall St along with other big monied interests have the

power and influence of and over Congress. The party line is blurred beyond recognition which is why politics is such 'high theater' and plays with the citizenry. FYI Reagan's position would him at odds with the current R agenda; he would be appalled at his party's behavior. He was overall a good man but didn't have the depth of understanding for the impact 'his' policies would have on the economy. The majority of Dems and almost all of the R's are whoring themselves for power and money. Time to get off the kool-aid

I hope that you and Root are right, and if so that Romney wins. But I believe that Romney isn't what Root thinks. Root sees Romney's Bain record, and ignores his record as governor: raised spending 32%, raised debt by 52% (and he lies claiming he balanced the budget - one can only make that claim ignoring the borrowing), appointed liberal judges, and implemented RomneyCare which he still defends. I also believe Root is mistaken on Obama's weakening of the military (which should be cut to at most 2X what any other country spends, which would be a 60% reduction in military spending). We'd still have the strongest military in the word, and 2X stronger than China's.

Both are liars and big government statists. I'll be voting for Gary.

You win the cluesless award of the day.

Before I introduce myself and tell you about the most important decision of my political life, let me first cut to the chase.

If Obama is re-elected on November 6th, you haven’t seen anything yet. Because the first Obama term was just a small taste of things to come. Without ever having to answer to voters again, he will be free to be his REAL radical self. Without any need for restraint, Obama will throw caution to the wind, ignore Congress, and govern by Executive Order. He will be free to truly wreck this economy from sea to shining sea-...
