It's been over 50 years ago since I graduated high school. The dropout rate was low, and very few got non-passing semester grades. Emphasis in every subject was always on learning the basic skills, then improving and expanding our knowledge. Teaching to the test back then was unheard of; the goal was for students to actually learn and to understand what they were learning. Our teachers were around for an hour after school to help us if we were struggling with a certain subject and not getting the concept during regular school hours. Our textbooks back then were far superior to those my children and grandchildren used, and I believe this difference is really problematic for both the teachers and students. Why this change?

It's fairly obvious that Obama really doesn't care about children, since he voted against giving medical aid to babies who survive abortion and since he jumps at the opportunity to use children to promote his own agenda. Neither does he care about the adult citizens of this country, since he works to saddle us with more debt and to leave us more vulnerable to our enemies (foreign and domestic). It's also obvious that the problem is not with guns, but with mentally ill people using guns. A fatal mistake was made back in the '70's to close down our mental institutions and thus put the mentally ill out into society. Time and time again we have paid for that mistake. It's time to rectify it and make it safer for rest of society.

One new gun law I could go along with would be that anyone who is convicted of committing a crime with a gun of any kind is sent to prison for life. And by life, I mean his/her ENTIRE life!

As long as P. Obama has the media in the tank for him, hiding the facts, the American public is screwed. The truly wealthy (the fat cats Mr. Hanson speaks of) have the means to avoid paying taxes or to take advantage of every imaginable tax loophole. It's the rest of us who will be paying the increased taxes, or who will lose our jobs because our employers get hit with increased taxes. And don't kid yourself. This president knows this is the case, and he doesn't care. This is his plan for "transforming" America.

You can bet that a man who supposedly was a star student at Columbia University, etc., yet thinks there are 57 states in our union had some definite holes in his education, and that he didn't take any economic courses. He supposedly was a Constitutional scholar too, but does he understand anything at all about our Constitution? No! Only how to go about shredding it! It appears that his true education was in Communism, Marxism, and the like. And idiots in this country, just like the idiots in Germany decades ago, fell for the rhetoric.

I will be voting for Mourdock. He clumsily spoke about the evil of rape, and his soul-searching conclusion that even in this instance, the child conceived through rape is innocent and should not be aborted. I can respect that belief. What I cannot respect is the belief that life is so cheap that any fetus regardless of the stage of the pregnancy can be aborted for the convenience of the mother.

Schieffer is the last media dwarf lined up to try to trip up Romney and make Obama look good. The others failed miserably, and I'm hoping Schieffer is equally unsuccessful, even though he's a crafty old goat.

I found it quite telling that when the Libya question came up, Obama turned to Crowley and ordered her to "get the transcript." Hmmm.....wonder how he knew she had it right there?

Even if Mitt wins what is surely to be a very crooked election, there will be an eternity between November and January, and there is no telling what evil can be perpetrated in that time.
