Costas To America: You're Just Not Smart Enough To Understand

These guys are from New York. While they don't ban handguns, assault weapons are banned, and you must have a permit to own a handgun. You also must show a "letter of necessity" to get a carry permit. In other words, it's very hard to carry a gun legally in NYC. Ergo, these two guys probably have little interaction with handgun owners, other than their armed bodyguards. They have no clue about a "gun culture" other than what they see on the streets of New York. C'mon out to the heartland guys! I'd be willing to bet that you would be interacting with handgun carriers several times/day and wouldn't even realize it.

NYC doesn't ban handguns? Where do you get your information, Hoosier?

They're "not banned" in that you technically can get one... If you're a police officer, federal agent, licensed security personnel...

New York is the poster child of Gun Control. Cops have guns, but try getting one to a crime scene fast enough to stop that mugger from shooting you. That's Part II-Most non-Police owned guns are unregistered, acquired through the black market or stolen, thus untraceable, and belong to people who expect to use them to COMMIT crimes. So-when some thug with a gun wants to break into your apartment and rob you, what's your best weapon of self defense? Baseball bat? Kitchen knife? Hammer? 40 caliber, with a mag full of" HydroShock"s? Now you're talking!! OOPS-Nope-you can't have that here.
Bob Costas, just a few days after giving a cultural soliloquy during a halftime break regarding the murder/suicide of Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, and the need to eradicate our society from guns, has managed to continue his elitist climb, claiming that the "audience" is to blame for the follow-up brouhaha about his comments.

Like a good elitist, Costas is blaming his audience.

On the Sunday broadcast between the Cowboys and the Eagles, while quoting and paraphrasing an anti-guns creed from sports writer and wannabe 2nd Amendment Bon Vivant Jason Whitlock, Costas stated (amongst other things):
