David Dewhurst is the Conservative candidate. He's the Texas Candidate! Those who complain about the TSA bill and the Sanctuary Bill ignore the fact that this was a redistricting year (Texas' growth netted us 4 new Congressional Districts, and we wanted to ensure that they were Republican Districts) and that our budget must be balanced and passed by Constitutional requirement. Look at this list of just some of his accomplishments:Women's Right to Know Act, an informed Consent law & Prenatal Protection Act, 2003, Defense of Marriage Act, 2003, with a Second law passed to amend our Constitution, 2005, Tort Reform 2005. This year we passed VoterID, defunded Planned Parenthood and passed the Sonogram Bill.

So? Ted Cruz supports all of those good things that Dewhurst has accomplished and will try to accomplish in Congress PLUS more. Cruz opposes the NDAA. I haven't heard Dewhurst say anything about the unconstitutional National Defense Authorization Act. And how does it being a redistricting year have anything to do with Dewhurst's refusal to take on the TSA. Plus, there's that little thing called age that Mr. Hewitt mentioned. Cruz is young, bold, energetic, and smart. Dewhurst may not be dumb, but, he definitely lacks the first three qualities I mentioned.

What we know about Cruz is that he talks, (and puts as much drama into it as possible -- hear about the times he forgot his wife was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and screamed that the CFR is a pit of vipers? Google it) Dewhurst DID these things. As to redistricting, our TExas legislature only meets for 140 days each 2 years. It is necessary to focus on what is required by the State Constitution and what is vital to pass. Time ran out as it was - after the Lt. Governor called for suspension of the rules on the TSA bill - it failed along party lines - with only about 4 hours filibuster by the Dems, so the Governor had to call a special session. Those run 30 days and only address issues specifically named by the Governor.
