Absolutely. We didn't make up the rules. People like oligarchyrising do. Of course, they don't apply to the people that created them. I think I heard the n word used between the lines much like the black caucus hears it among their political opponents. All you have to do is listen closely and you will hear it also wherever you wish to.

Nice synopsis and good point. Democrats simply cannot be trusted to have any common sense when it comes to geopolitics and military power not to mention their preference to see American debased at every opportunity. Unfortunately for the rest of us, the people that voted for him never read anything and get the necessary information to make judgments about foreign affairs from John Stewart and Stephen Colbert in comedic soundbites. The intellectuals that voted for him get their information from Rachel Maddow and Al Sharpton. Most could not point out Asia on a map. They're just thrilled to have finally put that nail in the coffin of racism and still can't see how Obama hasn't helped in that regard. Remember Trayvon! Woo hoo.

A sound analysis as far as it goes. What about symbolism? Reagan won the cold war without firing a shot. After Jimmy Carter's rescue attempt (not sure if it was designed to rescue the hostages or his reelection effort), Reagan got the hostages released without firing a shot. The point I am making, of course, is that credibility can negate the need for actual military force while the lack of it can make its use pointless. Of course, launching a bunch of cruise missiles would have no lasting strategic effect. It has the benefit of having no lasting public memory either. Perfect for someone with no strategic plan himself and only a desire to be memorialized as the only American president ever awarded a nobel peace prize before assuming office.
