but reading your column I feel like it is all just wishful thinking. Maybe Obama's over-reaching will finally expose the fascism of big-government. What we really need in his wake is a true Reagan-like conservative to demonstrate the moral superiority of liberty.

New Generation of Churchill Critics

I appreciate Tyrell keeping us updated on Buchanan's antics, but Victor Davis Hanson disposed of this crank more than a year ago: http://townhall.com/columnists/VictorDavisHanson/2008/06/0 5/the_bad_war
To be honest, I think it is more than just boredom that motivates Pat. He is an Irish Catholic and had he been more than a babe at the time would likely have supported Hitler over Churchill as did many Irish-Americans (Joe Kennedy). Let’s face it, Churchill was an Über-Anglo and therefore a target for any Irish Catholic crank like Pat—let the history be dammed. It wouldn’t surprise me if this was the impetus behind his opposition...
Moore is a Christian, in his mind at least, because he feels that his fealty to Marxism fulfills Christ's charge to care for the poor. Since he believes Marxism is about caring for the downtrodden voila he is a Christian. Never-mind that Marxism is atheistic in its foundation, you know man is god, and being a Christian means following the teachings of Christ not just a convoluted idea of caring for the poor.

But that is not evidence that he should be president or even smart.

Cheney still sucks, we the people now suck, but they know (the left) deep down that they suck the most. However, their insecurity doesn't allow them to admit it so the rest of us must bear the responsibility.

A populist president has not been elected since 2008. :(
This all dovetails nicely with Gen. Casey's statement after the Ft. Hood shooting "Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse,” And don't forget “part of my responsibility as president of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear,” ~ Barack Obama 2009 speech in Cairo

It may have been a blunder to enlist the “old bulls” to implement his domestic agenda but it wasn’t a mistake. Reid and Pelosi are Obama’s minions charged with doing his bidding.
Reid recognized Obama was the One with his remarks about him being “light-skinned” without a certain dialect. What most people don’t know is that Obama, when originally learning of these remarks, called Reid and told him that like his grandmother he is a “typical white person” and therefore his views are understandable. And despite being an old white cracker he still had the approval of the One.
Then he told him that the bitter clingers were getting uppity and that it could take tens of trillions to keep them down on the farm, so he needed his boy...

“Holmes…knew from experience that force can accomplish large things, such as the defeat of secession. But Holmes also knew there are limits.” Wrong, our problem is we today, as civilized—fully modern people, refused to use enough force. Just ask the Carthaginians or anyone who Genghis Khan’s gaze fell upon—oh that’s right, you can’t.
Things Americans are concerned about: an intractable recession and growing unemployment. So-called Immigration Reform doesn’t do a thing for those two issues but make them worse. To paraphrase the Simpsons’ Comic Book Guy—worst presidential administration ever!
