This statement in the article can have two meanings depending on what side of the view you have. If he wanted what he does to be for the good of America then he has made poor use of such opportunities. If he wanted to destroy the USA he has made good choices. His truth depends on the view point. Truth is a fickle thing.

The column isn’t about how the two are dissimilar. It’s about their similarities.

Granted Nixon did some good things and he was hated by the press.
