Compared with the child abuse in the US school system, child abuse in religious institutions is a spit in the ocean . Atheism is a philosophical contract of doing whatever you want, your own morality is whatever you want it to be. If God is a myth, then so is morality.
Not if he uses the points he has been using. The Bible is quite clear in it's stance against slavery and homosexuality.

Jefferson was a small government, states rights conservative. The only thing liberal about him is that he owned slaves, and not by his choice. Hitler was a self proclaimed socialist, and is evidenced in government controls over industry, slave laborers (who labored exclusively for the state), and his eugenics based population control. Plus, like our modern day liberal, he was rabidly antisemitic.
