'Zero Dark Thirty' Threatens the 'Bush-the-Incompetent' Narrative

Look at what Bush supporters are left with: 11 years after Bush's Global War on Terror and 2 complete fiascos in Iraq and Afghanistan his supporters are proud Bush's torture methods led to the killing of Bin Laden. And were was Bin Laden? Living in Pakistan our "ally". While under Bush our troops were fighting the "enemy" in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Obama used armed force in Libya without consulting Congress under the pretense of stopping the murder of innocent citizens by a despot, but has allowed a multiple of those deaths by another despot in Syria.

Bush was president for 8 years, so from 2008 hasn't it been Obama's war? Didn't Obama say Afghanistan was the "good war"?...and aren't we getting out of that on a caledar schedule where we will have NO influence over what we leave behind? Right now Iraq is allowing Iran to overfly with material and fighters to support Assad. Doesn't this continue the massacre that Obama said he wouldn't tolerate in Libya? Oh well, everything else is Bush's fault, so this must be too.

And under the liberal, Marxist food stamp president we have a CIC that thinks he has the right to kill Americans without due process.

He does.

Under the law, a terrorist, regardless of nationality, has no "due process" rights—the only right a hostis humani generis has is that his summary execution not be unduly drawn out.

Herman,

The people who get rich feeding the American war machine don't give a damn where we fight, what damage we cause to the rest of the world, how many U.S. troops are killed, how many foreigners are killed by our troops, or much of anything else except how much money they can make by fueling the chaos.

dog,

It doesn't matter whether it's Obama or Bush. You've bought into the deceptions and the lies. Except for a couple of window dressing items to appease the base, such as a useless proposed "assault weapons" ban, Obama's doing exactly what Bush would have done if he'd been allowed a third term.

How does it feel to be a chump?

Iraq was a historic success and so is Afghanistan-where our troops have done what many like said could not be done-representative governments now rule-not terrorists. Stop back-stabbing our troops.

I have written here of my disagreement on procedures and my support for President Bush-your comments there are dismissed. I wish I had been the one to personally shoot bin laden in the eye.

So what where he was hiding? What does that have to do with anything? Do you read your posts?

Our "enemy" was in Iraq and Afghanistan, thanks to simpletons like you who put the clintons in office and then let this entire situation erupt into 9-11. Liberals like you are responsible for this entire mess.

Ahole.

Herman, you confirm your stupidity with every comment you make.
In "Zero Dark Thirty," the movie about the killing of Osama bin Laden, one of the first scenes shows a terrorist being waterboarded, where useful information gets extracted. The movie thus asserts the controversial practice leads to actionable intelligence.

Not only was former President George W. Bush criticized for "authorizing torture," his critics argued that "torture doesn't work." During the 2008 presidential campaign, then-Sen. Barack Obama said: "Torture is how you get bad information, not good intelligence. ... No more secret authorization of methods like simulated drowning. When I am President, America will once again be the country that stands up...
