Is a Nuclear Deal With Iran Possible?

Don't forget the same vile group of Israel-firsters who assured us of Iraq's nuclear weapons 12 years ago are now saying the same thing about Iran.

Twenty years ago, in 1992, Netanyahu declared Iran would deploy nuclear weapons in 3-5 years. In 1995, Israeli officials warned Iran would have nuclear arms by 2000. In 1998, US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld warned that Iran would have intercontinental ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads by 2003 that could strike the United States. Netanyahu now insists Iran will have nukes within a year. US intelligence denies this claim. Even biased UN nuclear inspectors say Iran has no nukes.

These people have been saying the same thing for the last 20+ years. They have always been wrong. Should we start a war no just because they are repeating the same lies?

IAEA Forming a Special Iran Team
Thursday, August 23, 2012 11:06 AM

Diplomats tell The Associated Press that the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency is forming a special Iran team, drawing together sleuths in weapons technology, intelligence analysis, radiation and other fields of expertise.
They say the goal is to add muscle to a probe of suspicions that Tehran worked secretly on nuclear weapons.

(AP article)

The U.N. atomic agency has received new and significant intelligence over the past month that Iran has moved further toward the ability to build a nuclear weapon, diplomats tell The Associated Press.

They say the intelligence shows that Iran has advanced its work on calculating the destructive power of an atomic warhead through a series of computer models that it ran sometime within the past three years.

Jay,

Unlike most people I do look at this krap you post. You left something out.

"The diplomats say the information comes from Israel, the United States and at least two other Western countries. The time-frame is significant because if the International Atomic Energy Agency decides that the intelligence is credible, it would strengthen its concerns that Iran has continued weapons work into the recent past -- and may be continuing to do so.

This isn't proof of anything.

RyanM Wrote: Oct 09, 2012 12:29 PM
"Any new evidence of Iranian research into nuclear weapons is likely to strengthen the hand of hawks in Israel who advocate a military strike on Iran. They argue that Tehran is deliberately stalemating international efforts at engagement while continuing its clandestine"

"Unnamed sources" doesn't cut it either.
Jay Wye Wrote: Oct 09, 2012 12:49 PM
You expect intelligence agencies to reveal their sources and everything they know? And them LOSE them when Iran hunts them down? Are you CRAZY?

We CAN Accurately and truthfully say that the amount of 20% Uranium Iran IS producing is FAR above any peaceful need. Iran's tests of neutron initiators and implosions of dummy pits reveals their weapons work, then there's the bomb PLANS from Pakistan(working, tested, weaponized bombs...Pak has their nukes mounted on missiles.)

Just how blind are you,RM?
Jay Wye Wrote: Oct 09, 2012 12:53 PM
Even consider that Comrade Hussein has reasons to downplay Iran's nuclear weapons activity? So he doesn't have to DO anything? (he's very good at that,BTW) So that Iran DOES get their bomb? Or that Comrade's Intelligence agency leaders would obey him and make conflicting statements,to "defuse" the situation(or delay until Iran succeeds)?

He's already well-established as a liar and willing to deceive the American People,if only from his lies on the Libyan consulate attack

No one ever talked about nukes. WMDs are not jsut nukees. Sorry to burst your bubble.
RyanM Wrote: Oct 09, 2012 12:15 PM
Condi Rice did. Or have you forgotten about her statement of a smoking gun being a mushroom cloud?
IsraelFirsterSecond Wrote: Oct 09, 2012 12:44 PM
All bombs make mushroom clouds.

Don't be ridiculous, Israel first. You know quite well what Condi meant.

Facts don't matter to junior militarists, religious nuts and the easily frighten, Herman.
Jay Wye Wrote: Oct 09, 2012 11:55 AM
FACTS?
you denial folks ignore the facts,as reported by AP and other news agencies, and as stated by yhe IAEA.
In diplomacy, always leave your adversary an honorable avenue of retreat.

Fifty years ago this October, to resolve a Cuban missile crisis that had brought us to the brink of nuclear war, JFK did that.

He conveyed to Nikita Khrushchev, secretly, that if the Soviet Union pulled its nuclear missiles out of Cuba, the United States would soon after pull its Jupiter missiles out of Italy and Turkey.

Is the United States willing to allow Iran an honorable avenue of retreat, if it halts enrichment of uranium to 20 percent and permits intrusive inspections of all its nuclear facilities? Or are...
