That doesn't apply to shellfish, wearing blended fabrics, and working on the sabbath. The people of the first century had a very different set of cultural norms that would not work in modern society. Even if you believe the bible is divinely inspired as many people do, is it not possible that some of these 'harms' are a result of a pre-modern culture and not a result of divine eddicts?
