niles, You are missing the point when you want to make this a Republican/Democrat blame game. The government is the problem no matter who is at the helm. All these government programs grow along with their scope and budgets. People and bureaucracies will naturally misuse and abuse them. The key is to drastically reduce the size and scope of government.

While I disagree with your view of Gov't I hope I have been clear that I am not blaming anyone, simply pointing out the hypocricy of blaming Liberals. I actually don't blame anyone, because I think Gov't SHOULD be funding autism research and helping the poor, so no blame here!!

One question: What shouldn't government (and by that I mean taxpayers) be funding, in your view?
b_niles57 Wrote: Jun 05, 2012 2:19 PM
Organized religion? Is that what you mean?
Earl29 Wrote: Jun 05, 2012 2:29 PM
Always blame Liberals. That way you may not always be right, but you are never wrong.
Earl29 Wrote: Jun 05, 2012 2:32 PM
So government should be funding disorganized religion?

"Organized religion? Is that what you mean?"

And there's your answer. Government should fund everything except organized religion. 10th Amendment, anyone?

Nice try. I was asked for something Government SHOULD NOT fund. What does the 10th amendment have to do with my answer?

We need to put tea partiers with NO beholding and no dreams of being career politicians in place to make these decisions. Term limits(4 max) on politicians would help alot too because it would ensure that those in positions of influence are kept hungry and focused on the short term goals.
If they want to return to washington then they'd have to take off a cycle.
Programs like unemployment should be modelled after what is in place in argentina. While you work a portion of your money is saved for unemployment. When you become unemployed YOUR money is accessed BEFORE the gov money. WHen that runs out you must justify why you've been unable to secure a job before gov money is released. Finally, gov money in not unlimited...
Would anyone work to support themselves or their families -- and then turn over a chunk of that hard-earned money to somebody else, just because of the words used by that somebody else?

A few people may be taken in by the words of con men, here and there, but the larger tragedy is that millions more are taken in by the words of politicians, the top-of-the-line con men.

How do politicians con people out of their money? One example can be found in a recent article titled "The Autism-Welfare Nexus" by Paul Sperry in "Investor's Business Daily."

Genuine autism is a truly tragic...
