You are correct, sir, it is an existential fight. Just as with Islam, when we fail to correctly "badge and brand" the enemy, we fight an unwinnable battle. We must realize that the rest of the world embraces the notion that their leaders (elected, monarchs, oligarchs, totalitarian, etc.) know better than their citizens, and have a monopoly on force. Only in the US is this paradigm turned on its ear...which is why in 235 years we have surpassed all nations in wealth & productivity--by our embrace of liberty. Our leaders are encumbered by the Constitution and long for the monopolistic latitude that other gov'ts have (particularly in the EU).
