cont. My younger child WOULD have suffered if raised by either or both of her biological parents. But instead, because my partner and I adopted her, she is THRIVING!!!!! When I legally marry my partner this summer in my home state, our children, our family, our friends, our co-workers and employers, will all be there with us to celebrate. I am so sick of hearing about how our children supposedly suffer when I see my children every single day and KNOW that they are happy, healthy, and adored. What a load of baloney!!!!
cont. Although my daughter's father and I did not stay together, we DID both remain committed to raising our daughter. That child is now a college student and an amazing, intelligent, kind and compassionate young woman. My younger daughter is my biological niece, who was adopted by me and my same-sex partner of almost 8 years. We have raised her from birth. My sister (the biological mother) is a long-term drug addict who has given birth to 5 children that were all taken from her. My precious adopted daughter was conceived in a transaction of sex for drugs. Her biological father refused to acknowledge her as his child, even after DNA results confirmed paternity.
"When children are deprived of mothers or fathers, not only do children suffer, society suffers as well." A child born of heterosexual parents whose father abandons him or her and is raised by a single mother in poverty may suffer. A child whose heterosexual parents go through a high-conflict divorce and are unable to successfully co-parent may suffer. But a child raised by two loving and committed parents, whether of the opposite or the same sex, does not suffer. My children are living proof that I am right. I am a bisexual woman with two daughters. My oldest child is my biological daughter. Her father and I were unmarried teenagers when she was born. We never did get married, and our relationship ended when our daughter was 8.
