In response to:

To Appeal to Black Voters, GOP Must Run Gauntlet of Racism Accusations

Ah, yes, the various stupidities of the chattering class calling people racist. I was married to a Korea for twenty years, have an AmerAsian son, spent twenty years in the combat arms portion of the Army and talk to and understand anyone willing to work and do their job. But, I get called a racist. I offer a hand up (here's where you go to get training and how to do it) instead o a hand out. I expect people hired for a job to do it. I make no exceptions or excuses for anyone based on skin pigmentation. A liberal states (to a minority) that you can't make it on your own so we will set aside seats for you and jobs for you. A liberal gives away money for food, housing and medical because the poor (of any race) can't make it.

Which one is racist? The one that helps with a hand up or the one that gives a hand out?

A hand out is demeaning to the person receiving it and makes the giver feel good because "they did something".

A hand up is harder in that it requires effort on both parties to do something about the situation.

You figure it out.

Very well said.I'm sick & tired of being "racist" because the dems say so.I've never been racist. They have created generational poverty & blamed the GOP.It's our fault because we
won't let them throw unlimited amounts of money at the poverty in the U.S.That hasn't worked,
look at our educational system.From 1st to 20th in 40 years.Mention vouchers & they're
heads nearly explode.Google Michelle Rhee, super of the D.C. school system amazing what
she did with 2/3rds of the money. She got fired & she was (D).The dems keep promising
things to the poor they have no intention of fulfilling.Blame the GOP.Some of these folks don't
even know the American dream is real & have given in to Big Brother taking care of them, sad.

Michelle Rhee was fired because she neglected to keep the parent's of students informed as to the who's, what's, and why's of her programs. A simple explanation of her goals and methods and a few community forums would have served her well but instead she took on an air of doing what is best for people with little to no reaching out to them as if they were the children and created a nasty backlash because of it. Also, look in to the charges and controversies surrounding the turn around in schools and lack of justification for many of the firings.
Vouchers are a bad idea to those whose kids will be left behind in a crappy system. It may be selfish but wouldn't you as a parent rather have them fix the system your kid is guaranteed to in to?

If the GOP wants to win more black votes, it will need to get a lot more "racist."

The scare quotes are necessary because I don't think the Republican Party is racist now (and, historically, the GOP has a lot less to answer for than the Democratic Party does).

But that hasn't stopped a lot of people from slandering Republicans as racist for one reason or another.

Right now, many in Washington -- particularly the leadership of the Congressional Black Caucus -- insist that Republican attacks on U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice are racist and, yawn, sexist. The basis...
