On Newtown, Mourn First, Then Act

Connecticut has some of the toughest laws on gun control. Did that prevent a mentally disturbed individual from stealing firearms and murdering 26 innocents? No, it did not. The uptick in these incidents started after the idea of confining mentally ill people was changed to trying to treat them as outpatients. Almost every mass murder rampage has been perpetrated by mentally ill people. Agree with not making any rash or big decisions in the wake of this tragedy.

Most of these rampage shooters had not actually been diagnosed as mentally ill.

Loughner, Holmes and Laza were all clinically diagnosed prior to their rampages.

The problem is in how we treat (or not) people that are mentally unstable yet free to steal weapons and go on a rampage. This is NOT normal behavior and IS the behavior of the mentally ill.

Research it. You will find this out for yourself.

Evidently it is very difficult to incarcerate mentally ill people as New Yorkers realize every day. The liberals want freedom for everyone, except gun-carrying conservatives, So it's that small group of people hovering on the brink of insanity who the Democrats/Progressives want to protect--certainly not responsible gun owners!

On Friday, in his moving and heartfelt statement in response to the horrific shooting in Newtown, Conn., President Obama said, "As a country, we have been through this too many times. ... And we're going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics."

There's just one problem: In a democracy, politics is a synonym for "democracy." It is through politics that people with strong feelings and strong interests peaceably hash out their disagreements. When politicians say they want to do something regardless of the politics, or that they want...
