10 Facts for Liberals: Why Gun Control Can't Stop Another Newtown Massacre

For those who believe our congress is clever enough to craft the perfect law to end mass murder, I suggest you review the movie "Bedazzled". The original with Dudley Moore is better than the remake, but the point is still the same. No matter the intentions of the law makers, someone will figure a way around the law. DC is full of lobbyists and lawyers who work at that kind of thing full time. And business is good for them. Likewise, potential criminals will try to figure out new ways to use common objects in uncommon ways to kill their targeted victims. Disarming the potential victims so they are not able to defend themselves makes no sense. Merry Christmas, Hamilcar

To all those who think gun free zones work, I invite you to put a sign in front of your house declaring it a gun free zone. I will put a sign in my front yard proclaiming that I'm a life member of the NRA. Lets see whose house gets broken into first. If mine gets broken into at all, you can bet that they will be darned sure I'm not home when they do it. Yours on the other hand, will be an invitation for armed robbery ESPECIALLY if you are home.

The stewardess (oops - cabin attendant) tells us, that in the case of emergency, we must place the oxygen mask on ourselves and then place the mask on those around us.

The lesson is that we have a responsibility to take care of ourselves first and then those around us.

We cannot wait for our government approved caretaker to arrive and put our oxygen masks on for us.

If you are ever in the intended victim pool of a rampage shooting, you will quickly realize that a gun in your hand is much better than a cop on the way.

Merry Christmas,

Hamilcar

The burglars would wait until no one is home at either location. They would probably go to yours house first because you told them you have firearms. Guns are easily fenced, unlike my old Sony TV.

Sorry, you're thinking of old-time burglars, and ignoring the newer breed of home-invaders. The latter come intentionally when you're home, for various reasons I'll leave to your imagination. The former still operate widely, but are small potatoes compared to the guys who kick in your door and take over your home and family.

There are now calls from the Left for gun control legislation in response to Adam Lanza's unconscionable mass killing of innocent children at Sandy Hook Elementary. However, very few people seem to be asking the most basic question of all before getting started: What gun control legislation could have stopped Adam Lanza?

The answer is "none."

Let's consider a few alternatives:

1) The school was already a "gun free zone;" so obviously that wasn't effective. Of course, the sort of people who would respect a "gun free zone" in the first place are the very ones you wouldn't have to worry...
