5 Problems With America That Have Given A Mediocrity Like Obama A Chance To Be Reelected

It is sad that the election funding for both candidates has hit $2 billion dollars. I could think of a lot of people/things that could benefit from that money. No wonder we've gotten to the point we are currently at... we have our priorities completely mixed up.

We need to get ALL cash out of elections.... Make the networks, whose licences are really granted by US as we own the airwaves, provide each candidate say 30 hours of free ad time for the 30 days prior to the election..3 debates Lincoln /Douglas style and that's IT..may the best person win..

Gyst, do you think the voter will ever realize that we send so much money to Washington, that candidates will spend $1Billion just to get elected to control how it is spent? Crony capitalism is the main way to route the expenditures. e.g. look at the money pumped into "greed energy" (sic).

It's crony socialism. Capitalism involves voluntary transactions with one's own property. Government redistribution of wealth is socialism.

I rather agree with George Will's suggestion about campaign finance:
-full disclosure on all contributors
-no limits on contributions
-NO CASH

This elegant solution allows voters to see who is trying to buy the candidates and vote accordingly.

I'd modify this a bit:

a. Only contributions from individuals. No corporation, no union, no any organization. ONLY individuals.

b. The individual has to have had that cash in his personal account for some period of time. I'd use a sliding scale for this; a possible example is below:

$100 or less--2 weeks

$100-$1000--8 weeks

$5000-$1000-6 months

$25000-$5000---2.5 years

$100000-$25000-----5 years

>$100000----10 years

This, with the full disclosure, should be a start.

Fiddling with this, in any direction, on the part of anyone, bags a 20-year jail term at hard labor (which IS allowed under our Constitution, no matter what the feelings-based folks say)

"Look at the string of broken promises. If you like your health care plan, you can keep it. Try telling that to the 20 million people who are projected to lose their health insurance if Obamacare goes through or the 7.4 million seniors who are going to lose it.

Or remember when he said this: I guarantee if you make less than $250,000, your taxes won’t go up. Of the 21 tax increases in Obamacare, 12 of them hit the middle class.

Or remember when he said health insurance premiums will go down $2,500 per family, per year?...
