It's worse than just AF1. It has to be preceeded by at least one C-5A or two-three C17 cargo jets to haul the armored limo(s), SS Suburbans, etc. The actual SS agents fly in on other government passenger jets.

I'm not sure whether the oft-quoted $180K/hour for AF1 includes all that or not.

It seems like even if a campaign event is even 100 miles away, Obama has to take AF1 and all the other supply train.
