Reagan was the original class warrior, redistributing money to the rich. Even his Vice President said America needed to be "kinder and gentler" after that decade of greed.
Typical conservative heartlessness. I don't care if a few people are abusing the program. We can't let the needy suffer.
We should be building a budget based on what we need, not fixating on what gets spent. There are too many hungry and sick people in America to engage in counterproductive penny pinching.
Dan, you're smoking crack. No nation has ever undone healthcare as a human right once it's been established. You can dream about letting people suffer without healthcare, but fortunately that will never happen. We're not going back to the days of robber barons!

NDMom is right. The economy is slack because there's not enough purchasing power. We need to put the unemployed to work fixing our roads and educating our kids.

Yes, it is true that government sometimes needs to guide people into making better choices for themselves. But more important, the government is needed so that we make better choices for each other. Without government, selfishness would rule and we wouldn't share with the less fortunate.
There should be no right to move money overseas. Particularly with so many unfinanced needs here at home.
If the everyone-for-themself libertarian system is supposed to be so superior, why don't we see any societies using that approach? Maybe human beings actually care about each other. Radical idea, huh?
Damn, you are disturbingly prolific. I used to raise my blood pressure by reading one of your columns each day. But today there are two Koch-inspired columns of right-wing bile to read!
People don't die because of inadequate healthcare in France. They do in the USA. Case closed.
Rather revealing that conservatives and libertarians admire Thomas Jefferson. Does the fact that he was a slaveholder not bother you people?!?
