Is America Still a Good Country?

This article is a fascinating debate that cross over generations, genders and geographical areas. I think it's an easy and lazy comment to say that the entire country is going to hell in an hand basket but I also believe that the moral boundaries have expanded. One reason is accessibility to information. Technology has targeted morality at no fault of it's own and the adoption of the internet and wireless technology has impacted this generations ability to "sort" what is important and what is morally bending. I beloved this generation is so overwhelmed with extreme images and toxic visual information that the morally sensor is dulled to a point that the morality belt as stretched without a chance of it being elastic.

"Moral boundaries" have expanded because the government has intervened in our cultural development. Liberals GROW GOVERNMENT. The means by which that growth is accomplished is to introduce such issues as feminism, homosexuality, pornography, illegal alien support and others as Civil Rights issues, rather than allowing Americans to determine whether we should embrace such concepts.

Unfortunately blaming liberals for everything is not productive and as stated above, lazy . The above, "mater of fact"statement is partially the reason we are jammed the situation we currently in. I guess it depends which form of conservatism you follow. Conservatism, as many political parties do, have many different subsets to them. Without knowing you, it appears that you tend to lean to the evangelical side of conservatism, and that's fine and your choice. I on the other hand, I follow the Goldwater discipline. We tend to look at situation differently and that is the American way.

You claim I'm "..blaming liberals for everything'. No, I'm not blaming liberals for everything. Why don't you read my posts about these so-called "Conservatives" advancing a bellicose foreign policy called "Project for a New American Century"? Liberals pushed gay marriage down our throats. Liberals forced us to underwrite the expenses of illegal aliens. Liberals have created a hugely litigious society by emphasizing racial, gender and sexual preferences as Civil Rights, rather than as simple concepts for society to consider.

And when did the PNAC get published? When was it acted on?

LOL, Actually, it's the conservatives who want big government. They had government tell us women weren't the right sex to vote until 1920. They still want abortions to be illegal, pot to be illegal, people to be illegal, some sex acts between consenting adults to be illegal, pornography to be illegal...

Gay marriage isn't being pushed down your throat. Don't like the idea? Don't marry someone of the same sex.
"Not until I went to the churches of America and heard her pulpits aflame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great."

So wrote Alexis de Tocqueville.

Yet, judged by the standards of those old "pulpits aflame with righteousness," is America still a good country?

Consider the cases taken up this week by the Supreme Court.

In one, the court is asked to rule on California's Proposition 8, where voters declared marriage to be solely between...
