If Pat's right, if the country was what it is today demographically, Reagan would have lost to Cater in 1980. If Pat's right, the great American Experiment is over, we have a one party system and we survive as best we can.It isn't just the Republican Party at the gates of the boneyard, it's the USA. The lady asked Benjamin Franklin back in 1787 what kind of government we'd been given. "A Republic, if you can keep it." Forgive us, Mr. Franklin, we have lost it. Eternal shame be on our heads. Shame not just on the liberal fascists, but on three million Republicans who sat on their hands on November 6th and lost the last chance to save us over petty differences with Romney that could fit on the head of a pin. After its second defeat at the hands of Barack Obama, under whom unemployment has never been lower than the day George W. Bush left office, the Republican Party has at last awakened to its existential crisis.

Eighteen states have voted Democratic in six straight elections. Among the six are four of our most populous: New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois and California. And Obama has now won two of the three remaining mega-states, Ohio and Florida, twice.

Only Texas remains secure -- for now.

At the presidential level, the Republican Party is at death's door.
