Did FDR Provoke Pearl Harbor?

The Enterprise was on the way back to Hawaii after dropping some planes at a dry rock with a landing strip, and after being held up almost a day by a storm, was about 200 miles off Oahu at the time of the attack. Enterprise launched over a dozen planes, several of which were shot down by the Japanese during the PH attack.

Can't remember the source, but I think one carrier was unloading planes at some other island, the Enterprise was about 200 miles from Oahu on the way back from dropping planes on some other island, and one carrier was headed back to San Diego. After being delayed one day by a storm, Enterprise was close enough to launch over a dozen planes during the PH attack, several of which were shot down by the Japanese.

And BTW, even earlier the battle of Khalkhin Gol [ which allowed Stalin to sign up with Hitler in August 1939 ] had a certain effect on turning Japanese Cabinet views on the direction of the war for resources.

Lots of good points. The wonder weapons were a factor. Some of that was a lot closer than the public realized. Hitler cancelled a bomber mod which could have had one-way range to NYC. Some post PH testimony indicated FDR knew the day of the PH attack. The interesting thing is how the entanglement with England was described in http://www.amazon.com/Man-Called-Intrepid-William-Stevenson/dp/9993990795. [ and General Sir John Dill is buried at Arlington Cemetery http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/gen-sir-john-dill-dies ] It is interesting how many [ offensive weapon ] US bombers were in the far East or en route on PH day. Carriers were delivering planes to other island defenses.
There used to be a Charles Martel Society at CUA., any connection? The situation could use some of their old droll discourse. The campus newspaper standards of editing and proofreading have slipped a little also. http://www.cuatower.com/news/2011/10/20/university-accused-of-discriminating-against-muslims/#comment-235 A WaPo writer who previously edited the "Towel" would have done a better job.

Nature abhors a vacuum. Power exists in usage. If people don't use their Constitutionally reserved power to control the government, why is there any surprise when government attempts to Hoover up every iota of power to control people? GBUSA

The Significance of Congressman Allen

How many Democratic chairpersiblings have pulled demonstrations outside the headquarters of an opposing party's congressional candidate complete with the verbiage shown here? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLRVeuokZmM&feature=player_embedded#at=252 How many times did Obama appear in West's district? How many times did Wasserman appear in West's district? The long history of Debbie's dirty campaigning against Allen simply shows how greatly the Democrats fear his message. GBUSA
In math two points are defined in a line. I usually want to see a few more in non scientific matters. We can't achieve perfect confluence of data and deductive reasoning in most things in our daily lives. Our decisions are mostly from inductive reasoning. Without more points, a basic line has no orientation or direction or movement/momentum. However when the points fall 90%+ in one direction, one would be justified in hoping that the thousands of opinion shapers worldwide might at some point at least acknowledge that fact. GBUSA
