Yeah, lesbians.....how about working mothers juggling a family a job and still manage to lead a troop because they cant find another leader. Valuable time to spend not only with her daughter but also a troop of girls eager to do an activity. I've never meat any lesbians in GS except these comments! I've met plenty of overworked, burnout mothers trying to show their daughters a world of camping, travel, spoof deeds for others and dedication.

Oh, yeah, I give up 30 hours a week because I'm arrogant & leftist. I crawl out of a cold tent in 10 degree weather because of my superiority so I can teach a delighted 12 year old how to cook breakfast in a Dutch oven or how to start a fire. I teach young women how to rewire a plug on a lamp or how to organize an activity for her troop so her organization can be girl-driven. I backpack a steep trail, sleep on a hard wooden floor lean-to 2 miles off the trail so these Durban/city kids can experience camping & hiking. Yup! I see nothing but arrogance in my volunteer activities and.....tell me, what do you do?

Actually, what is growing by leaps & bounds are the Boy Scouts USA Venture Scouts structured similar to European Scouts with children between 12 & 18, boys & girls camping. I ran into many of these USA Venture Scouts while attending international Scouting Jamborees.

You are clueless as to the success of other GS troops. There are no fears in GS; 90% of female CEO's of major corporations were Girl Scouts. We train girls and young women to overcome fears and be successful especially in leadership. My troop funded their travels on cookie sales and we camped through Europe three summers and whitewater rafted four major (Class III & IV) rivers. What volunteerism do you do that is funded entirely on the the motivation of the youth? Probably nothing because you are too busy running your clueless mouth off on stupid website forums such as this! Turn off your computer, get out in the world and begin living a real life!

GS is a non-profit organization and their by-laws prohibit any donations for any political organization. This is the premier organization for girls and one that exists only on the profits made from selling cookies. My GS Council is made up mostly of Republicans based troops. So. go soak your head, you are ignorant!

The troop is only as good as the Leader and how much support the leader has from the parents so of course, it's not surprising that your daughter's troop was a bust!
