He was just pining for the fjords ... Wake up Polly ... He's not dead, he's just restin' ... In other news, Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead. Ba dum, tiss.
The schadenfreud runs deep on this one. On the one hand, I agree, the State of NY is probably doing a money grab as opposed to Redford owing some huge amount. On the other hand, it's impossible not to smile at the reluctance of a left wing "1%er" not wanting to pay his "fair share" and all that rot. In my mind, I keep hearing things like, "paying taxes is patriotic" and all sorts of sound bite drivel that comes from Redford's fellow travelers ... which all boils down to ... taxes for thee but not for me.
My take on it, cute phrasing to mimic the left about Cuomo being "insensitive" ... I fully expect that from the left ... but do you really want to play tit for tat and mimic the left in complaining about Cuomo? In reading the article, this is mountain making out of mole hills. His laughing was more about the proposal his opponent was making versus laughing about to charges of groping. So ... taking the laugh out of context to score political points. This is the modus operandi of the left ... why mimic that? Part of my disgust with the left is the lack of honesty in political discussion ... if that is what we devolve to ... then how are we better? And if we are no better, then perhaps I should look elsewhere, because just being "the other guys" is not enough.
I think Ed Schultz's motivation is far more boring and base than trying to take a way a talking point for 2014. Mr. Ed gets a fair amount of money from unions. It's probably far from the majority of his income, but it does provide some pretty nice pocket change. Keystone will mean union jobs for construction and the unions heavily support Keystone. This is why fast Eddy comes down the way he does on Keystone. Without the union jobs issue, he'd be telling us how evil Keystone is and how evil Rethuglicans are for supporting it. Oh ... and Koch brothers. Plus ... racism.
