I agree with the premise, however, not the reason behind it. For those of us in the middle class who are working, both husband and wife, we are truing to be responsible in a system that is gamed against us. The government constantly increasing the size of government with the potential increases in taxation; the prices in the supermarket and gas stations at record highs; the increased cost of maintenance on vehicles; the increased cost of clothing and other items that are necessities. We just want the govenment to leave us alone. We get NOTHING from the fedgov and want to be left alone, and for them to get out of our way and let us support our economy with resources we can get here in the US. That would revive the economy.

There’s been an ominous aura in this country for some time, which makes hurricane Sandy even more eerie. I’ve called this the dropout nation. Sadly, rarely does a week go by without there being more evidence of people throwing in the towel. From the plunge in marriage to an insane willingness to rent in places where it’s prohibitively more expensive than owning, Americans have more or less said live for the moment because it will not be better tomorrow. Perhaps no data stream illustrates the dropout nation more than income, spending, and savings reports.
